Vegetation Management With Sheep.
Since 2021, High Country Shepherding Inc. has been providing targeted sheep grazing as a sustainable vegetation management solution for the forestry industry across Alberta. Rather than relying on chemical herbicides or labour-intensive manual brushing, we bring large, carefully managed flocks of sheep into replanted cut blocks to graze competing vegetation.
Targeted grazing helps reduce competing vegetation while minimizing the buildup of dead plant material, giving young seedlings the space and resources they need to thrive. Once the sheep move on, they leave behind a healthier, more natural environment, helping you achieve your vegetation management objectives with less reliance on chemicals and mechanical methods.
Our sheep are carefully selected for their ability to thrive in challenging working environments, and every animal receives a full veterinary health check before heading out for the summer targeted grazing season.

What We Do.
We use sheep grazing in order to manage vegetation in a variety of different environments and applications through out Alberta. Silviculture is our speciality, but we are able to adapt to best suit your land management needs. Using traditional herding and grazing practices, we provide an alternative to herbicide and manual vegetation management.
Who We Are.
High Country Shepherding is comprised of both four legged and two legged team members! Our border collies are trained to handle rough terrain and large flocks, whilst our guardian dogs work together to keep the sheep and shepherds safe from wildlife.
Our shepherds are provided on the job training, they are carefully selected to ensure the job gets done safely, efficiently and thoroughly.
