Since 2021 High Country Shepherding has endeavoured to provide industries across Alberta with vegetation management and targeted grazing rooted in sound land management practices.
Founded as an alternative to herbicide and mechanical vegetation management, High Country Shepherding has worked closely with major lumber companies in the forestry industry from day one. As public awareness and expectations around the management of public lands continue to grow, we saw an opportunity to provide a more sustainable approach to large scale vegetation management.
High Country Shepherding was created to offer an effective, environmentally conscious solution. Through targeted sheep grazing, we help clients manage competing vegetation while reducing their reliance on chemical and mechanical methods.
Recognizing that other industries are also looking for new and sustainable ways to manage vegetation, High Country Shepherding has expanded its services into the energy sector. From power line corridors to oil and gas sites and solar projects, we provide targeted grazing solutions designed to help clients meet their vegetation management goals safely, effectively, and sustainably.
Firebreak management has more recently become a focus of High Country Shepherding. We use targeted grazing to reduce fire fuel burdens by removing flammable vegetation from community firebreaks.

Whether it’s large scale silviculture, fire break fuel reduction, reclamation and management of mine expansion vegetation, mobile well site management or solar sites, we can work with you to produce a project that meets your needs. We maintain daily grazing records so that you can view our progress toward meeting your goals. We will happily collaborate with government ministries to ensure our projects fall within environmental guidelines and regulations.
